Bi-Weekly Standups
Bi-weekly Stand Ups with Foster Care Children
Every other week, it's time to gather for our bi-weekly stand-up meetings with our foster care children! These sessions are designed to create a safe and supportive space where kids can express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas.
Purpose of the Stand-Ups:
Open Communication: Encourage the children to share their experiences, challenges, and successes in a friendly environment.
Empowerment: Give them a voice. It’s their chance to talk about what’s important to them.
Connection: Foster relationships among peers and caregivers, so everyone feels they’re part of a community.
Structure of the Meeting:
Ice Breakers: Start with a fun icebreaker to get everyone relaxed and smiling! Think silly questions or quick games.
Sharing Time: Each child gets a chance to speak. They can share anything from what’s going well in their lives to any issues they may be facing.
Goal Setting: Let them set personal goals for the upcoming weeks. This could be about school, hobbies, or social skills—big or small, all goals matter!
Wrap-Up & Support: End with a positive note. Remind the kids that everyone in the room is there to support each other and that they have champions in their corner!
